dont know what to title the post
this christmas was sumedha's first christmas! and i thought i would become sumedha's santa.
i went to the kids store and bought a cute little disney piggy bank for her. got it gift wrapped and gave the gift to her on christmas eve. since she is fond of playing with paper especially colorful wrapping paper that makes sound, i left it for her to open the gift.
after struggling for 5 mins she finally open it to see a piggy bank inside ( though she doesnt understans what a piggy bank was...happiness on her face to see a colorful bus was evident and we became busy in her happiness.
everything appeared so normal!
only to see some blood drops on the piggy bank. i saw, sumedha's hand was cut and was bleeding. and then the night that it was, the bleeding would not stop and so much is her innosense that she still wants that piggy bank. she was normal and i had tears in my eyes.
she had to be taken to the hospital for bandaging as the cut was deep.
well she is ok now, but the bandage on her hand for two days was an eyesore!

'my baby is the best' syndrome
All...yes all mothers have this syndrome. All mothers think their child is the cutest/ smartest/prettiest and .... and when they see other babies who are also cute and smart and pretty they say to themselves...."that's a cute baby...but mine is cuter" :) dont we all do it?
Well, just before i was sumedha's mumma , i would enjoy having fun with children and would always feel deep inside...that this is such a cute baby....why cant i have one like that. and their proud mummas and daddys would proudly say...my child can do this or my child is too smart for this classmates...and i would feel...that all children have some gift or the other. all children are blessed! I thought when i would become a mother i would be able to see my child with a unbiased opinion!!
well...time is the best teacher ....and it has proved me so wrong!

Time flies....sumedha is four months already!

..... and in these four months she already knows her name is sumedha. she calls back when you call her. she smiles back if you smile at her.
she know her room, and she talk to her toys...winnie the pooh specially.
she know her lullabys that i sing to her every nite....! she makes humming sound with me at 'nani teri morni ko mor le gaye..' She is also fond of ichak dana, bichak dana.
and yes....i jumped with joy and clapped my hands last week because she learned to flip over on her own. :)
that's the play mat that i am making for her..... it has a rainbow - for the color she has added in my life..., sun - coz she brings brightness wherever she goes, moon- for the her to play with and stars- for the twinkle she has in her eyes.
and a pond with lotuses and tulips and loads of butterflies to flutter around my little flower.
i hope hope u realize the efforts that we make for u to have the best....the bestest!

Roller Coaster Ride!
Yes! you have got it right! life has been a roller coaster ride after 28th June. Its been a very very eventful month.
and believe me...however many children you have handled in the past...when it comes to handle your own first baby...you panic.
I panic every time she wakes up for a feed! I panic every time she has to be given a bath or she does potty ( and in my weirdest of dreams i did not think that the color of the potty is would be so important), I panic every time she cries when she has a stomach ache. I panic when someone else takes her in their hands. and i am panicing since last two days because today is her second vaccine.goodness!!! bless the child!

what if its a boy?

do i have any answer to this question? Can anyone answer this question? Well if a boy then its a boy.. That's it. But you must be wondering why am i writing such about it....... Good question! Well so here it goes... How can i make baby clothes and not make a smokked piece! So i did! And it looks pretty! Well yes! And so the question. So now the deal between me and pukku is that if pukku is a boy then he will agree to wear a 'pretty' piece (as if he will have any choice) and in return i'll ....i'll ... Well why should i do anything in return. He can atleast do this much to ' utaaro maa ka karz' .. How filmi is that! Hee hee.

Nakshi kantha

Kantha is the rag-quilt that women in rural bengal use to make to hold a new born baby. They would use old sarees and quilt them together and embroider them with simple running stitches.
The concept developed further and women started making quilts and bed-covers with embroidery on the Kantha and they would embroider symbolic motifs and scenes from everyday life to the quilts. Their emotions/aspirations/desires....in short ...their life were embroidered forever in the quits. nakshi kantha was the term used for these quilts that has scenes and depictions from everyday life.
(Although, it has nothing much to do with this blog, but i had written an article on symbolism of lotus on kantha. You may want to read it if you find the concept of nakshi kantha interesting!! http://www.craftrevival.org/)
Neither do i have the patience or the skill to make a nakshi kantha...but yes.... and smart quick modern way ...yes why not!!!
A quilt is in making.... & picture of the initial step for the records & of course the matching baby dress and nappy.
name poll
This is really tough! everybody has been asking me if i have thought about a name for the baby!
Well ! this is very very tough! Firstly for the reason that I dont even know if its a girl or a boy!!
But, yes with a lot of time at hand...I did a mini research on the names and my research includes all the websites and names encyclopedias in the cyber space.
Oh God! they are so old fashioned.
Anyway... some of the names that do make sence are : 'Pranshu'... if its a boy and 'Prathana' if its a Girl! Or you think 'Presha'is better? well Presha means Gift of Love.
Some others that were shortlisted are : Prana , Pranali , Pratham.
Although we are not really stuck to PR but its just a preferance.
What say ?
